Much like bad weather hit the northern region the prior day, Manchester City blew Manchester United aside at the Etihad Stadium. It was a emphatic three goal victory for the City coach's side due to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that truly announced their title credentials as they consolidated their position at the WSL pinnacle.

Consecutive Defeats for Manchester United

This result marked consecutive Women's Super League defeats for the United manager's side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, placing them seven points off the league leaders with their title hopes severely dented.

Previously unable to overcome any opponent who ended above them in the prior term, Jeglertz’s side now have wins against Arsenal and Manchester United to position them in a favorable standing after the opening fixtures.
